In the late 90s, early 00s I had a short lived solo project called The Shrubs in Boston. I played a handful of shows at the Kendall Cafe, All Asia Cafe, and some backyards. No One's Gonna Change Who You Are is from this period. Somewhere there is an acoustic EP of tunes. Maybe one day I'll find it.
This version of the tune was recorded in Miami, at Andre's home in the early 00s. Addison had his recording setup so we set up and recorded.
Listening now, here are my thoughts:
1. Cut the second half of the second verse
2. Cut all of the last verse
3. Go straight to a final chorus after the solo
Learning to sing was hard. My blueprints for singing are Addison and Jeff London (King Friday/Fay Wray) but my voice can't sing the way they do. It took me forever to acknowledge that and just sing.
